The Golden Stave Foundation is a not-for-profit Trust Fund that provides money, property and benefits to funds, authorities and institutions that contribute to- wards the relief of poverty, desti- tution, sickness, helplessness and misfortune amongst persons and particularly children suffering from physical, intellectual and emotional disabilities. The event, held at the Macquarie Links Golf Club in Sydney was attended by 110 members, sponsors and guests and the funds were raised through playing fees, raffles, auction items and games on course during the day. Prizes were donated by industry suppliers and individuals. This year the team from DHL Global Forward- ing took out the team winners’ trophy of the main Ambrose golf competition, with Stockwell International close runners-up. In third place was the team from Bonds Transport. The Corporate Supporter of the Year this year was MGL Logistics, for its consistent support of the day and its high-level involvement. The Golden Stave Foundation said it was de- lighted to be chosen as this year’s beneficiary, saying: “We are so grateful for the generosity of your industry members. This will make a huge difference.” “Our thanks go to all the teams, sponsors and individual donators for their contribution and the AFIF Office team and other volunteer help- ers on the day. Despite the tough economy, it’s great to see companies and individuals still will- ing to be generous to charity. Including today and over the 14-year history of this event, more than A$245,000 in total has been raised for the charities selected as beneficiaries,” said Paul Golland, chairman of AFIF.
