International visitors spent a record A$41 billion in Australia last year. MCEC to be Australia’s biggest C&E space MELBOURNE Convention and Exhibition Centre’s (MCEC’s) A$200 million expansion is close to com- pletion and should open in late July. The new space will make MCEC the largest convention and exhibi- tion (C&E) space in Australia, with a total size of more than 70,000 square metres. The 20,000-square-metre expan- sion includes 9,000 square metres of exhibition space plus additional flexible, multi-purpose event space, a 1,000-seat plenary theatre, multi- ple meeting rooms, a banquet room and the Goldfields Cafe and Bar.
