The event included a peace-themed parade comprised of hundreds of motors, the sacred flame of Tiens under- takings and a 3,700 sqm flag peace relay ceremony. Over 8,000 Tiens employees from more than 50 countries and regions participated in the international gathering that advocated peace and friendship. The Bali peace themed events followed similar promotions in Nice, France and Madrid, Spain. During its development in Indonesia over the past 10 years, Tiens has helped many ordinary business partners succeed by providing op- portunities and instilling in them the ideals of peace and development. Bali Roadshow best ever THE BALI Hotel Association reports an excellent travel industry uptake from its Australian Roadshow in August. THIS covered Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville. According to one of the roadshow team, they set out to share Bali to the full, “delivering a passionate presentation”. Their aim was to get across the message that Bali is a quality destination, well suited to a variety of travel needs. This included Bali’s ever-popular status as a weddings choice. Feedback suggests that the roadshow was considered the best ever by many of the agents. The roadshow was strongly supported by Tigerair, Virgin Australia and Jetstar. Planning is now under way for a 2017 Bali Roadshow. Dates are expected to be finalised soon. Region benefits from medical conference aN INTERNATIONAL conference of the Scoliosis Research Society held at the Bali International Convention Centre, Nusa Dua www.baliconvention.com in mid-August pointed not only to Bali’s growing appeal for professional group gatherings but also the concept of two- way sharing. A workshop during the conference introduced Indonesian and other sur- geons to the use of BoneScalpel equip- ment for various spinal procedures with an emphasis on scoliosis. This workshop was organised by Farmingdale, New York based Misonix, an international ultra- sonic surgical device company that designs, manufactures and markets innovative therapeutic instruments for spine surgery, neurosurgery and other surgical specialties. Conference organising com- mittee chairman Dr Ifran Saleh said the event was “designed to serve the needs of the spine surgery community with lec- tures, workshops and Bali International Convention Centre case discussions to improve and keep knowledge up to date”. It would be of significant advantage to the region, he explained.
