Page 56 • MICEBTN - May-JULy 2016 ITE & MICE Hong Kong 2016 adds pavilions, exhibitors, special sessions FEATURING some 600 international exhibitors from around 50 coun- tries and regions in 160,000 square feet of space, ITE & MICE this year will be held from June 16 – 19 at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibi- tion Centre in Wan Chai. Its first two days are open only to the trade and require registration, with the last two days open to the public, with tickets available at the door. ITE & MICE highlights themes such as cruising, wellness, travel photography, honeymoon & overseas weddings, sport, eco-tourism and driving tours. New official pavilions this year come from Andalucía in Spain, Slovakia, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka and Myan- mar, etc and there are new exhibitors from Asia, South Africa and Iceland. Repeat pavilions will fea- ture products from Finland, Switzerland, Zagreb of Croatia and Indonesia. China (mainland) and Japan, each with around 60-70 booths, will be the two largest official pavilions, followed by Taiwan, Macau, South Korea and Hong Kong. Overall, almost 50 per cent of the participating countries and regions will be outside Asia. 2016 HIGHlIGHtS Sport - The magazine ‘Hong Kong Discovery’ and the portal ‘Tripwant’ join forces bringing in more seminars, dem- os, displays, and experts for travellers and the serving travel trade. MICE - The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) will host a ‘Myth of The Low Cost Carrier’ seminar to explore trends in low cost carriers and discuss the pros and cons of LCC use by corporations. Overseas wedding – How travel agents to work with wedding planners will feature as will New destinations / FIT products presentation – New routes, new attractions, popular local tours and themes including sport, eco-tourism, travel photography and driving tours. ITE & MICE this year is expected to draw some 12,000 buyers and trade visitors from travel and MICE industries with over a quarter from mainland China and abroad, and some 80,000 public visitors with high portion of them FIT or affluent travellers.
