Sudima Christchurch Airport given a Qualmark 4.5 star rating for its Nz$25m upgrade and new services AFTER completing its NZ$25 million re-development, Sudima Christchurch Airport has received a Qualmark 4.5 star rating, up from its previous 3.5 stars rating. The iconic hotel, having undergone a two-year re-develop- ment, obtained the new, more-pres- tigious rating due to an array of new services on offer for guests. These services include the introduc- tion of a ‘Pillow Menu’ (also available at Sudima Auckland Airport & Sudima Lake Rotorua), from which guests se- lect one of five options: The Memory Foam Pillow, the Non-allergic Polyester Pillow, the Feather and Down Pillow, the Tri Pillow or a favourite among busy conference attendees – the Lavender Pillow. The team at Sudima, renowned for their community-mind- ed efforts within Christchurch, now also provide complimentary bike hire, electric vehicle bays and a compost/ herb garden. They also use local Manu- ka honey amenities for the turndown service and source local plants for the hotel’s landscaping, Sudima Hotels and Resorts chief executive Sudesh Jhunjhnuwala said: “It is important for us to provide the high- est level of service for our guests, and to continue to sustain the reputation we have built in our community. Our strong family-focused team continues to impress and I’m so proud of all they’ve achieved over the years.” “At Sudima Christchurch Airport, it is important to management that the efforts of their hardworking team are recognised. The integration of internal staff rewards programs and recognition of staff excellence has resulted in an increasingly hospitable environment for all.” In addition to its 4.5 star Qualmark rating, Sudima Christchurch Airport also now boasts a Be. Accessible Gold rating. Sudima Hotels and Resorts is the first and only hotel group in the country to have all hotels assessed for accessibility, and the network of hotels’ ratings range from Bronze to Gold. The Gold rating was made possible by the hotel’s pro- active approach and involvement of the social change organisation at every stage of the refurbishment. Improvements range from ‘tactile’ room numbering and wider doorways, to suitable wayfinding signage and accessi- bility information on the hotel’s web site and brochures. The re-development also saw the hotel unveil a new and improved lobby entrance and street-side façade, 24 hour reception, a further 88 Executive rooms and suites, complimentary valet parking, and improved conference facilities with an additional four rooms. From a so- phisticated banquet or high-end product launch, to a board meeting or annual gen- eral meeting, the improved conference facilities are capable of dividing into eight spaces, and can host as many as 300 guests theatre style. Also, the latest in AV technology ensures the smooth running of the most detail-focused conferences. All considered, it is clear to see how the re-developed Christchurch hotel has achieved its elevated Qualmark and accessibility ratings. Sudiman’s refurbished bar and restaurant area...
