Julieanne Alroe, Brisbane Airport’s chief executive praised Qantas for the new service saying it would help to reinvigorate a long and valuable relationship between the two countries. “The return of a full service carrier direct to Japan is a win for travellers, for business, for Queensland and for the economy.” The Air Canada service has been achieved with government support through its Attracting Avia- tion Investment Fund. “Attracting new airlines to new destinations is hugely competitive and we’re thrilled to welcome Air Canada, one of North America’s leading airlines, which has committed its flagship aircraft to Queensland,” said Alroe.
