Kenes to work with BestCities on ‘initiated’ meetings series GENEVA-based professional conference organiser (PCO) and associ- ation management company Kenes Group has inked a deal with the BestCities Global Alliance. BestCities is a network of 11 convention cities - Berlin, Bogota, Cape Town, Copenhagen, Dubai, Edinburgh, Houston, Melbourne, Singapore, Tokyo and Vancouver. As part of this agreement, Kenes and BestCities will work towards the creation and management of ‘initiated’ conferences in these 11 global locations. The inaugural pilot conference will take place in Copenhagen in 2017, followed by a rotation involving all BestCities destinations. Initiated conferences/meetings of doctors, researchers, specialists and communities are not formally structured through exist- ing associations. “The partnership between BestCities and Kenes goes beyond both parties leveraging each other’s network, sharing knowledge and promo- tional tools – it is intended to build a legacy in initiated conferences and help further innovation in many areas in a new and unique way,” said Jurriaan de Vos, business development manager Europe at Kenes. Paul Vallee, Alliance managing director at BestCities said: “This agree- ment supports our shared objectives – to create superior, far-reaching global meetings that will set the stage for the world’s leading medical and science communities, enabling them to meet and showcase their expertise in a highly-professional meeting environment.” Emirates adds Geneva and lAX capacity DUBAI-based Emirates will add a second daily B777- 300ER service to Geneva effective 01 June 2016. The second daily flight will double capacity on the route and represents an overall increase of 26 per cent for the carrier in Switzerland. Geneva hosts a high number of international organ- isations including Europe’s United Nations and the Red Cross, making it a global hub for diplomacy and bank- ing. Demand is strong year-round, with high inbound traffic from Thailand, Australia and Hong Kong. Trade with Geneva includes pharmaceutical prod- ucts, automobile spare parts, chemicals and semi-con- ductors. The presence of international organisations like the Red Cross also generates high levels of humanitarian traffic on the route. The carrier also plans a second daily service from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Los Angeles In- ternational Airport (LAX) from Friday 01 July 2016. EK217 will be operated with an A380-800ULR aircraft in a three-class configuration with 14 private suites in first class, 76 seats in business class and 401 seats in economy. It will depart Dubai at 1500hrs and arrive in Los Angeles at 2000hrs. Favourite hotel/resort: My home away from home – Pullman Bunker Bay Resort.
