Surprisingly for visitors to WA, the prison has extensive MICE facilities. Optional catering for all events is through PMGroup Hospitality. With a variety of spaces to choose from - including Main Cell Block and The Commissariat - the prison makes the perfect backdrop for corporate and private events such as gala dinners, awards, concerts, parties, team building activities, weddings and meetings. The Commissariat, for example, has two stylish underground rooms with atmospheric lighting. These rooms are ideal for pre-dinner drinks and cocktail style events. Main Cell Block has a capacity for 500 persons, with individ- ual areas capable of holding between 100 and 200 each. The East Workshops have capacity for 300 persons, while each room of the Commissariat can accommodate 50 for standing events. In addition to internal spaces, Fremantle Prison’s Main Pa- rade Ground is licensed for 2000 persons, perfect for larger events, with the use of marquees, or after hours outdoor concerts. ‘Highlights’ tours of the prison can be arranged for guests ahead of their events if required. Overall, the prison is a multi-faceted tourism operation, offering a range of entertaining and guided tours: Day visitors can select from Doing Time, Great Escapes, Torchlight and Tunnels Tours. Perth Airport recently ensured the attraction of its offer with the recent opening of an extensive new F&B area at Terminal 1 International. This was undertaken as part of a massive airport development that saw other F&B openings. Scott Norris, the airport’s executive general manager for commercial services, said the aim has been to create a wide choice across local produce, international brands and evolv- ing trends.
